By Maria Santangelo Talk Radio News Service. Representatives Lois Capps (D-Calif) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla) announced during a press conference Wednesday that over 28,000 supporters signed a petition in favor of the 2014 Truth in Advertising Act.

On March 27th, 2014 Congresswoman Lois Capps (D-CA) co-sponsored HR 4341, a bill to regulate the use of Photoshop airbrushing in advertising. The bill would require the Federal Trade Commission to issue a report to Congress setting forth “a strategy to reduce the use, in advertising and other media of images that have been altered to change the physical characteristics of the faces and bodies of the individuals depicted.”

The Truth In Advertising Act which Mrs. Capps co-sponsored with GOP Rep. Ileana Ros-Lethinen (R-FL) was largely ignored by the mainstream media, but reported on by several websites devoted to photography like SLR Lounge and most recently petapixel.com which ran this piece by DL Cade on April 19th:  CLICK IMAGE for story.

“Irony of ironies,” says Matt Dies, father of Mallory Rae Dies, the victim of a DUI manslaughter hit-and-run by Raymond Victor Morua III, who was Mrs. Capps District Representative at the time he ran down the 27 year-old-UCSB graduate. “Apparently she doesn’t think truth applies to politicians. In the first 36 hours we’ve had close to 700 signatures on a petition to force Congresswoman Capps to come clean about the evidence exposed in the News-Press series. If she won’t, we need a federal prosecutor to intervene.” The controversy over Mrs. Capps a “no comment” position on the Dies scandal will be the subject of discussion on today’s nationally syndicated Jerry Doyle Show.
