CLICK TO DOWNLOAD A This June 18th, 1962 FBI Airtel memo to “The Director” of the FBI J. Edgar Hoover is one of 1,153 once secret internal memos on the debriefings of Colombo crime family capo Gregory Scarpa Sr. who was a paid informant for the Bureau as early as 1960. By 1962 he had been granted “Top Echelon” status.

In this single 11 page debriefing memo Scarpa Sr. revealed not only the inner workings of the Mafia Commission and the organization of what Hoover later called La Cosa Nostra, but he also confessed the details of the secret induction ceremony — a revelation punishable by death. For more than three decades — off and on — Scarpa Sr. known as “The Killing Machine,” “The Grim Reaper,” “The Mad Hatter” and “Hannibal Lecter,” made 100’s of millions of dollars in drug dealing, loan sharking, hijackings, high-end back robberies, stock thefts and credit card fraud which he was protected at the highest levels of the FBI. Not only did Larry Mazza, his chief killing partner in the 1990’s testify that Senior had “stopped counting” after 50 murders, making his the most prolific killer in the annals of organized crime, but I prove in my new HarperCollins book SIX SIX SIX that he committed up to 25 of those homicides from 1980 to 1992 when he was being “controlled” by former FBI Supervisory Special Agent R. Lindley DeVecchio.
