I was privileged to be in attendance at Mr. Lance’s Las Vegas presentation. I know of no other journalist who has done the kind of deep and insightful research that this eloquent investigator and author has done to enlighten Americans on a uniquely American subject. He continues to make an invaluable contribution to understanding organized crime and modern terrorism. This was one of C-SPAN Book-TV’s most fascinating and shocking broadcasts.

Larry, many thanks. I used the picture you took on a tweet today prior to C-Span rerunning the segment. Best, P.L.

Peter…am pleased you could make use of it. Your lecture was the highlight of my 9-day house-sitting “solo” stay in Vegas, something I do for my kids in Summerlin every now and then. Keep up your diligent and important work!

After reading the book and listening to the audio book while driving, I think this by far is one of the best book/listens that I have read to date in regards to LCN/Mob. Not only does it go into extreme detail of Scarpa, it also details more about the overall picture of how the mafia works. I have to commend Peter Lance on “The Deal With The Devil” book. Absolutely loved it.

Joshua, I can’t thank you enough for those kind words. When you do this kind of work you hope that it strikes a chord in people and I’m happy to know that you found the book worthy. Best, P.L.
