July 29th, 2016.<\/strong> After more than five years in development, the long awaited feature film biopic inspired by John A. Gotti&#8217;s memoir\u00a0<a title=\"Shadow pl page\" href=\"http:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/?p=5785\"><strong>&#8220;The Shadow of My Father&#8221;<\/strong><\/a> began production this week.<\/p>\n<p>In the fall of 2014 I wrote <a title=\"Foreword\" href=\"http:\/\/peterlance.com\/Attach_F_Shadow_Final_Foreword_1_19_15.pdf\"><strong>the Foreword<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to &#8220;Shadow&#8221; and since then John Jr. has been working to produce the film based on a script he co-wrote. This piece from yesterday&#8217;s<a title=\"UK Mail\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/article-3711635\/FIRST-PICTURES-John-Travolta-steps-character-crime-boss-John-Gotti-set-new-biopic-wife-Kelly-Preston-plays-misses.html\"><strong> U.K. Daily Mail<\/strong><\/a> is a good overview of the tortuous, multi-year process of getting the epic story on film. It includes a number of pictures from the set and from the Gotti family archives. Kevin &#8220;Entourage&#8221; Connolly is directing.
