The video, which also shows a tag on the end of the ad noting that Mrs. Capps had approved the message, was supplied by <a title=\"mitchum for congress\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mitchumforcongress.com\">Mitchum for Congress<\/a> representative Tab Berg who issue the following statement:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.noozhawk.com\/article\/mitchum_campaign_accuses_capps_of_manufacturing_quote_20141028\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4791\" title=\"Capps anti Mitchum ad\" src=\"http:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Capps-anti-Mitchum-ad2-300x148.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Capps-anti-Mitchum-ad2-300x148.png 300w, https:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Capps-anti-Mitchum-ad2.png 484w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Political operatives from the campaign of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cappsforcongress.com\/\">Rep. Lois Capps<\/a>, D-Santa Barbara, recently released a new attack ad, editing statements made by Republican challenger <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mitchumforcongress.com\/\">Chris Mitchum<\/a> to create a sound bite that never existed. \u201cTo be honest, my first reaction was laughter,\u201d Mitchum said of the Capps\u00a0commercial, which has been airing on television broadcasts in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties. \u201cThe claim is so absurd it would almost be funny if the consequences for voters were not so serious.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The commercial edits a 2012 statement from\u00a0Mitchum, who, in a videotaped response to a question, says he will not go to Washington to fight for pork. \u201cI do not intend to go to Washington, to represent the\u00a024th District, to bring back baseball fields,\u201d he says in the full clip, which is posted above.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Noozhawk on Capps anti Mitchum ad\" href=\"http:\/\/www.noozhawk.com\/article\/mitchum_campaign_accuses_capps_of_manufacturing_quote_20141028\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-4793\" title=\"Noozhawk Capps 10.28.14\" src=\"http:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Noozhawk-Capps-10.28.141-595x1024.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"595\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Noozhawk-Capps-10.28.141-595x1024.png 595w, https:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Noozhawk-Capps-10.28.141-174x300.png 174w, https:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Noozhawk-Capps-10.28.141.png 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px\" \/><\/a><strong>The Mitchum campaign accuses the\u00a0Capps campaign of editing the quote to make it sound as if\u00a0Mitchum is saying he wouldn\u2019t represent the 24th\u00a0Congressional District. \u201cDoes Lois think I\u2019m running for the 12th District?\u201d Mitchum remarked when shown a copy of the ad.
