Representatives Lois Capps (D-Calif) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla) announced during a press conference Wednesday that over 28,000 supporters signed a petition in favor of the 2014 Truth in Advertising Act.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.talkradionews.com\/congress\/2014\/06\/11\/28000-petitioners-favor-truth-advertising-act.html#.U5lMcy9RGzp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-4226\" title=\"Screen Shot 2014-06-11 at 11.53.26 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Screen-Shot-2014-06-11-at-11.53.26-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"488\" height=\"575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Screen-Shot-2014-06-11-at-11.53.26-PM.png 602w, https:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Screen-Shot-2014-06-11-at-11.53.26-PM-254x300.png 254w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On March 27th, 2014 <strong>Congresswoman Lois Capps (D-CA)<\/strong>\u00a0co-sponsored\u00a0<a title=\"HR 4341 Truth in Advertising\" href=\"http:\/\/beta.congress.gov\/bill\/113th-congress\/house-bill\/4341\/text\">HR 4341<\/a>, a bill to regulate the use of Photoshop airbrushing in advertising. The bill would require the Federal Trade Commission to issue a report to Congress setting forth &#8220;a strategy to reduce the use, in advertising and other media of images that have been altered to change the physical characteristics of the faces and bodies of the individuals depicted.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Truth In Advertising Act<\/strong> which Mrs. Capps co-sponsored with GOP <strong>Rep. Ileana Ros-Lethinen (R-FL)<\/strong>\u00a0was largely ignored by the mainstream media, but reported on by several websites devoted to photography like <a title=\"SLR Lounge\" href=\"http:\/\/www.slrlounge.com\/congresswoman-introduces-bill-regulate-excessive-photoshop-use\">SLR Lounge<\/a> and most recently <a title=\"petapixel\" href=\"http:\/\/petapixel.com\/2014\/04\/19\/truth-advertising-act-aims-rein-excessive-photoshop-use-ads\/\">petapixel.com<\/a> which ran this piece by DL Cade on April 19th: \u00a0<a title=\"Peta pixel truth story\" href=\"http:\/\/petapixel.com\/2014\/04\/19\/truth-advertising-act-aims-rein-excessive-photoshop-use-ads\/\">CLICK IMAGE<\/a> for story.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Irony of ironies,&#8221; says <strong>Matt Dies<\/strong>, father of <strong>Mallory Rae Dies<\/strong>, the victim of a DUI manslaughter hit-and-run by <strong>Raymond Victor Morua III<\/strong>, who was Mrs. Capps District Representative at the time he ran down the 27 year-old-UCSB graduate. &#8220;Apparently she doesn&#8217;t think truth applies to politicians. In the first 36 hours we&#8217;ve had close to 700 signatures on <a title=\"pl.com petition story\" href=\"http:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/?p=3527\">a petition<\/a> to force Congresswoman Capps to come clean about the evidence exposed in<a title=\"5 part series\" href=\"http:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/?p=3153\"> the News-Press series<\/a>.
