Suddenly, a tall woman got out of the &#8217;66 Dodge Polara wagon, took a few steps and abruptly turned around, staring under it, as if to see whether Eduardo, who, moments before, she&#8217;d run over in a fit of rage, was still alive. Rather than expressing shock or remorse at the loss of her &#8220;long time companion,&#8221; Miss Duke, uninjured and with cold blood, seemed to be searching for proof of life. Then, 55 years later, finding Bob &#8220;credible,&#8221; the Newport PD reopened the case, prompting an <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/doris-duke-heiress-death-47610ea9308d92bf7ca1dffa7decfa6e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Associated Press<\/em> story<\/strong><\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-9865023\/1966-death-heiress-employee-renewed-scrutiny.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>went global.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But, as I later reported in a detailed 30 page <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/peterlance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/NPD-22Duke-Case22-Timeline-with-links-11.4.21-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>TIMELINE,<\/strong><\/a><\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/police-reopen-probe-into-designers-1966-death-at-the-hands-of-billionaire-tobacco-heiress-doris-duke?via=twitter_page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Det. Jacque Wuest<\/strong><\/a>, the Newport PD&#8217;s cold case detective, who confirmed that Bob had given his unwavering account in detail as far back to the early 70&#8217;s, <em>abruptly closed the case again<\/em> in mid-November. That happened after she&#8217;d been promoted to Sergeant and took off on a three week vacation to Europe.
